LUAR
LUAR Fall/Winter 2026
“I’m looking at the era when European tailoring first arrived in the Caribbean — the imposition of corsetry, suiting, and formal codes of dress — and how those silhouettes were reinterpreted under the Caribbean sun. The palette pulls from that collision; colors that speak to both Spanish court dress and the saturated light of the island.”
Tobacco, oxidized gold, deep indigo, faded coral, ecclesiastical black.
Spanish tailoring techniques are the central silhouette references — sharp shoulders, cinched waists, precise construction — disrupted by movement, drape, and heat. These details nod to Spanish colonial embroidery, religious ornamentation, and structured menswear, filtered through a Dominican lens: loosened, sensualized, made resilient.
This collection is a dialogue between Santo Domingo and Barcelona. Between inherited structure and lived identity. Between Europe and the Caribbean.
For me, it’s about reclaiming that history — not as something imposed, but as something transformed.
LUAR is the reversed namesake label of Brooklyn-based designer Raul Lopez. Widely regarded as one of New York’s most exciting brands, LUAR’s timely point of view has earned international acclaim.
Founded in 2017, LUAR emerged with a premise long missing from American fashion: clothing and accessories rooted in low- and middle-income communities, inspired by the people Lopez grew up among in New York City. His deep ties to downtown scenes led him to merge visual hallmarks of his Dominican heritage with the fluidity of underground nightlife.
After a period of reflection, Lopez relaunched LUAR in 2022 with renewed conviction: to create empowering luxury that subverts social hierarchies. Designed with New York City’s outer boroughs in mind, LUAR creates pieces that resonate with real New Yorkers while broadcasting an authentic NYC style globally. The brand embraces accessibility and inclusivity across ready-to-wear, accessories, and lifestyle goods for all gender identities. In Lopez’s vision, LUAR speaks to everyone — from high school students in Bensonhurst to uptown women on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
LUAR received the CFDA Award for American Accessories Designer of the Year in both 2022 and 2024, and was later named a finalist for the prestigious LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. The brand was also named Brand of the Year at the Latin American Fashion Awards in 2023 and again in 2025, receiving the Carmen Bousquet Couture Award. In 2024, LUAR was nominated for the International Woolmark Prize. In 2026, LUAR designed a custom garment for Lady Gaga’s halftime performance at the 60th Super Bowl — the most-watched halftime show in NFL history.
LUAR has been worn and supported by Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, Dua Lipa, Solange Knowles, Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Lourdes Leon, and more.
Affinity with eBay
Raul Lopez, Creative Director of LUAR, is a natural partner for eBay. Known for blending cultural references with sharp, forward-thinking design, he regularly uses the platform as a sourcing tool — discovering rare trims, deadstock fabrics, and unexpected reference pieces that shape his collections. Over time, he has built a network of trusted sellers that fuels ongoing experimentation and development. For Lopez, eBay functions as both archive and marketplace, enabling one-of-a-kind garments rooted in discovery, sustainability, and global access — making the partnership organic and creatively aligned.
