DESERTORES

A collection inspired by Spain of the nineteen-thirties and forties — those periods of war and interwar years in which history, fragility and resistance coexisted within a single landscape.

In the midst of the Civil War, there were those who, far from the front line and without weapons, carried out an act of quiet courage: protecting Spain’s artistic heritage. Intellectuals, conservators and art lovers risked their lives to safeguard some of the most valuable works in our history — from the Velázquezes to the Goyas — transporting them to other cities with a purpose as urgent as it was essential: that art should survive.

“Desertores” is born of that tension between vulnerability and courage, between memory and resistance. A collection that looks to the past to pay tribute to those who understood that preserving beauty was also a form of resistance.

L’AMAR presents its tenth menswear collection, “Desertores”.

Nacho Lamar is a fashion designer born in Zaragoza, a city where flowers shiver with cold. Throughout his childhood, he held a pencil in his hand with which he would depict everything he saw; scribbling his imagination has been his longest-running “professional career”.

Drawing, his great passion, led him to study at the Zaragoza School of Art, where his curiosity for different artistic techniques was awakened — among them ceramics, photography and design. He trained as a Senior Technician in Advertising Graphics and a Senior Technician in Pattern-Making and Fashion, before graduating in Fashion Design from the European Institute of Design in Madrid.

His accolades include awards such as the Aguja Goyesca, the Prize for Best Aragonese Designer and the National Fashion Prize for Young Designers, as well as the creation of the uniforms for the Hotel Canfranc Estación. He currently runs a space where the craft of bespoke tailoring and his contemporary vision exist side by side.
