Antonio Contreras is a Chilean designer and creative director based in Barcelona. Trained in Industrial Design, he launched his fashion career in fashion in 2009 with A de Antonio, a project through which he developed his own approach to deconstruction, transformation and textile experimentation. After a break of several years, in 2024 he launched ANTONIO ACUARIO, a new chapter in his creative universe from a freer, more mature and conscious perspective.
His work is rooted in the deconstruction and reconstruction of existing garments and materials, recovering pieces, fabrics and objects to transforming recovered pieces, fabrics, and objects into new garments with distinct identities. Memory, chance, intuition and the relationship between body and clothing are central elements of his creative process.
ANTONIO ACUARIO proposes a vision of fashion detached from seasons and the logic of trends. Its universe is built continuously through different “Moments”, understood as chapters of the single collection in constant growth and transformation.
His proposal combines craftsmanship, upcycling and experimentation, through a genderless approach that understands clothing as a tool for expression, freedom and personal transformation. In September 2025, he presented his work for the first time on the EGO runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, returning in March this year, and has continued to expand the ANTONIO ACUARIO universe from Barcelona ever since.
