RAÍCES

At 080 Barcelona Fashion, we are presenting Raíces (Roots), the new FW25/26 collection, inspired by The Power of Movement in Plants, a study that was conducted by Francis Darwin alongside his father, Charles Darwin, in which they claimed that “plants are intelligent beings”. This perspective, which shocked the scientific community in the 19th century, marked the beginning of a line of research that now concludes that the root system of plants acts like a brain: it is capable of thinking, creating bonds and establishing collaborative networks between members of the same family, as well as with other animal and plant species.

On the centenary of his death, we pay tribute to this vision through a collection that ponders on intelligence, collaborative thinking among living beings and transgenerational society. A proposal that champions the power of wonder and curiosity, while inviting us to explore new ways of perceiving the world, rethink our relationship with nature and question the place of human beings in this ecosystem we call Earth.

SIMORRA focuses its proposals on the architecture of materials and shapes as the basis for functional design with high creative value. This is the result of a desire to push the boundaries of form to create useful items with a high aesthetic feature.

The brand’s design is defined not only by the way it draws on its origins, which its inspiration is based on, but also by its constant reimagining, which generates a sense of novelty that is meant to thrill those who enjoy their creations.

Thus, the SIMORRA design team views cutting-edge design as a vehicle for expressing creative freedom through playing with materials: “We are driven by our desire to push the boundaries of form to create useful items with a high aesthetic feature and we are defined by the way we always draw on our origins and constantly reformulate them to keep innovating and exciting people with our proposals”.

This philosophy conveys, of course, the nuances and proposals of each collection and the way in which it appeals to a transgenerational society, which is united by a common purpose, in which age is not a discriminatory factor: “We are committed to balance and transgenerational collaboration as the key to a much wiser, more inclusive and advanced society in the future, in the same way that we learn from past techniques and combine them with new technologies to create our designs and fabrics”.
