OUTSIDERS DIVISION

LOS NIÑOS PERDIDOS

FROM EDITION NUMBER 34

As soon as you go out onto the street you meet a group of children.

The choice of clothing is random and some prints are superimposed on others. One of them carries a spear and a wooden slingshot. The tallest is dressed as a skunk and makes indecipherable noises. Another wears an ankle-length jacket made of printed scraps while waving a flag that says Outsiders Division. I can see hats that imitate animal heads and a lot of disorder. I imagine them as the lost boys of Peter Pan, always on the edge of the precipice, not caring about anything, free and wild.

“Clothes from the children’s section but in adult sizes.”

Created in 2012 in a Barcelona art gallery by David Méndez Alonso. Under the motto of “Adults who haven’t grown up,” Outsiders Division uses emotions as a tool to draw collections that include a long list of clothing and accessories. Contradiction is always present in his self-proclaimed “Preppy-Punk” designs that link subculture and pop through the free use of colour and imagination.
