Fear as inspiration: REPARTO launches its collection ‘Rated: R’

REPARTO’s new proposal explores existential fears and the most intimate insecurities, reclaiming vulnerability as an essential part of its identity. This collection delves into the duality between life and death, desire and emptiness, beauty and decay.

‘Rated: R’ gives its name to this collection as an audiovisual nod, presented romantically and addressing each theme without restrictions. The proposal contains references to fear, insecurity, emotional conflict, and inevitable death.

REPARTO draws aesthetic inspiration from 17th-century vanitas, which represented fleeting beauty, attraction to the superficial, and the certainty of decay. In this way, the collection reminds us that every pleasure, power, or perfection is transitory. Nostalgically, ‘Rated: R’ also connects with the aesthetics of the creative directors’ adolescence, a time when fears and insecurities began shaping their personalities.

Among its characters appear themes such as productive anxiety, fear of oblivion, madness, losing oneself, moral conflict, or the emptiness of feeling multitasking.

Techniques such as upcycling, reusing second-hand garments, repeating trimmings, or moulage remain present in this collection, contributing to the brand’s sustainable and experimental aesthetic. In addition, REPARTO continues its collaboration with Fernando Gómez in footwear design and incorporates the jewelry brand Simbolic.

Reparto was born in Madrid in 2019, as the result of the creative collaboration between Margil Peña and Ana Viglione.

Through its collections, Reparto explores today’s reality by portraying the casual encounters of imagined characters, their hopes and their fears. With an ironic yet direct approach, each season addresses personal experiences, tackling complex and unexpected themes with humor and a touch of ease.

Capturing the spirit of the times through the collective imagination, Reparto is unafraid to act as a mirror both for the fashion industry and for ourselves, inviting us to question why we are where we are, and why we do what we do.

Honesty and vulnerability are essential to Reparto’s spirit, openly addressing what it means to be creative entrepreneurs. In this way, they have built a loyal community, committed to the growth of the project and closely sharing both achievements and missteps.

Peña and Viglione champion fashion as a form of visual entertainment, integrating character development and narratives with cinematic inspiration. Their goal is to turn fashion into a platform for exchange and positive impact, approached with lightness, self-irony, and the determination not to take anything too seriously.

Reparto has presented its collections on the runway at MBFW Madrid and 080 Barcelona, and since 2023 both founders have served as Program Leaders for the fashion master’s degree at IED Madrid.
