TEATRE NACIONAL DE CATALUNYA WILL HOST THE NEXT WINTER EDITION OF 080 BARCELONA FAHION

11 Nov 2016 - 00:00

From January 30th to February the 3rd 2017, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (TNC) will be home to the 19th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion catwalk, where independent designers and long-tradition fashion brands will present their collections for autumn-winter 2017-18.

With this new edition, the government of the Generalitat of Catalonia will showcase, once again, the strength of the Catalan textile industry and the authority of Catalonia, especially its capital Barcelona, as a pole of talent in fashion and design. In fact, one of the main goals of the Generalitat with the 080 Barcelona Fashion is to establish Catalonia as a benchmark  in the creation and projection of fashion, and help in its internationalization alongside the relocation of the textile production in Catalonia.

In addition, another of the aims of this initiative is to open the world of fashion to the city and the citizens; hence, the election of so well-known and special locations as the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site. For this 19th edition, the organization has chosen another icon of Barcelona: the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (TNC), when it’s the 20th anniversary of its opening to the public. With this setting, one of the objectives of the organization is to foster synergies between fashion and culture, as the TNC is the main venue for dramatic arts in Catalonia.

Located in front of L’Auditori next to the Plaça de les Glòries, the TNC is a construction by architect Ricardo Bofill, designed at the request of the Generalitat, whose opening took place September 11th in 1997. Of imposing architecture, TNC is one of the most charismatic buildings in Barcelona made of two different structures: the main building, in the shape of a Greek temple and of 20,000 square meters; and a second one, adjacent, of 5,000 sq.m. All in all, an impressive setting for this new edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion that will feature the best style from January 30th 2017. Save the date!
