Designer Maria Fontanellas, winner of the 080 Emerging Design Award last summer edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion, is back on the Catalan catwalk with “A safari to wonderland”, her collection for autumn-winter 2018-19. The creator remains true to her fashion made in leather but moves away from the motor style to get inspiration from the eccentric glamour of socialités like Wallis Simpson.

That’s why now shw enriches her designs with feathers, fringes, velvet touches and metallic fabrics in a flamboyant and sumptuous collection that pays homage to the Ziegfeld Follies aesthetics. The leather jackets, once the icon of Mietis, now also dress the men and compete with long leather coats. The color palette is inspired by Matisse and results in looks of big contrasts, mixing red, lilac and baby blue, to give an example. Looks that show how Mietis masters both the use of leather and of color.
