The international presence of the 20th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion has appeared today thanks to the guest of honour of this summer edition: Margherita Maccapani Missoni, third generation of the well-known Italian knitwear brand Missoni. Minister of Business and Knowledge, Jordi Baiget, has given her the Fashion Tribute of 080, which the Generalitat of Catalonia awards to her mother, Angela Missoni, creative director of the company, for her role and contribution to the fashion world on an international level. Baiget has stated that with this tribute they want to recognize “the values of Missoni as a family-run company, and their capacity of renovation and adaptation to the current times” and has pointed out that “it’s especially important that it’s you, Margherita, who comes to pick the prize because you represent the next generation”.

Before that, Margherita Maccapani Missoni has taken part in one of the highlights of this edition’s parallel activities: the intimate talk “The Missoni family: Born into fashion” where she has shared memories and experiences with journalist and friend Lisa Lovatt-Smith. Within the activity, Margherita has talked about the future of fashion, which, according to her, “has to be related to sustainability, not only ecologic, fashion cannot turn its back on the world, it has to be connected with social reality”. Regarding her mother, Margherita has commented that, when she was appointed creative director, Missoni “was renovated and updated”. As for other aspects that have helped to the brand’s success, according to the 080s' guest of honour, there is also the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, apart from “being present on the street, knowing what’s going on”, because as she explains, “if you’re not there, you don’t exist”.
