CUSTO BARCELONA CLOSES THE 4TH DAY OF SHOWS OF THE 080 BARCELONA FASHION

The fashion brand Custo Barcelona has closed tonight the 4th day of shows of the 080 Barcelona Fashion at Sant Pau’s Art Nouveau Site with “Call me tomorrow”, their ready to buy collection for spring-summer 2018. It’s a proposal defined by experimentation and technological fabrics that presents a sporty deluxe style based on hip hop. After the fashion show, designer Custo Dalmau has gone the the official 080 Barcelona Fashion afterparty hosted by Soho House Barcelona, one of the new sponsors of the Catalan runway in this 21st edition.
 
To open today’s fashion shows, in the morning the runway has welcomed Mietis, winner of the 080 Award to Best Emerging Design in the last summer 2017 edition. Her womenswear collection, “Safari in Wonderland”, presents a trip to a fantasy jungle where designer Maria Fontanellas mixes the attitude of a unconventional socialité like Wallis Simpson with the glam rock spirit of shiny fabrics.

Next on the runway has been the newcomer Verbena Atelier, who makes his debut with “Mambo”, a deconstruction and reinterpretation game based on two concepts: folklore and romanticism. Volumes and pleats characterize a collection declined in primary colors and made of luxurious fabrics like lamé, 3d brocades and leather.
 
ES Collection has followed with “Dystopia”, a collection that presents a postapocalyptic look that combines intimate apparel with streetwear with padded pieces and backpacks. It also introduces metallic designs that go with leather and plastic in a collection of high technical complexity but also vert comfortable.

To close today’s morning shows, Elena Estaun, winner of the 080 Award to the Best Collection in June 2017, has presented “Atmosphere”, where she continues with her personal jewelry-fashion. The creator presents a strong and powerful woman, in different versions: from cyborg-inspired looks to savage ones or urban. Elena Estaun has also introduced men’s looks, aware of the current men’s jewelry boom.
 
LOA by Lidia Aguilera has opened the afternoon’s shows with “NO TITLE #8”, a collection inspired by the influences of the past, in search of the real concept of fashion with the aim to dress the woman of today. Feminist heroines of the 80s like Madonna are the referent of looks full of volumes, pleats, embroideries, frills and very special fabrics for a high self-esteemed woman.

Jinksieminks has been the next one on the 080 Barcelona Fashion catwalk with “Prospect Park”. The famous Brooklyn park is the starting point of this urban and sophisticated collection that presents tight dresses, elegant suits and sheer printed dresses of asymmetrical cut.
 
Afterwards, the womenswear brand by Maite Muñoz, Lebor Gabala, has presented “High fidelity”, a proposal where knitwear is the main element, as it’s usual in this designer. Knitwear presented in different versions: from the finest and lightest gauges to the thicker ones like braids, threads with mixtures of colors and checked jacquards reminiscent of tartan in the purest Scottish style. All combined with corduroy and large floral silk prints in a winter collection declined in a very select color palette.

Finally, Brain & Beast has shown on the 080 runway the third volume of his trilogy Eclipse. Designer Angel Vilda reflects now on the Freudian concept of the “concealing memory”, linked to the problems of memory. The result is a fun and more acid collection thank his previous ones, where we find Scottish kilts for men and midi pleated skirts for woman combined with printed sweatshirts and jackets with big logo-like messages.
 
Regarding today’s parallel activities, Barcelona Fashion Summit has celebrated its 6th edition as the meeting point for fashion professionals in Spain organized by Moda.es. The General Secretary of Business and Knowledge Pau Villòria, opened the Barcelona Fashion Summit in the Forum Auditorium, along with the General Manager of Trade, Muntsa Vilalta, and the director of 080 Barcelona Fashion, Miquel Rodriguez. In remarks during the opening ceremony, Villòria has stressed that "this sixth edition of the Fashion Summit is a confirmation of the strength of the sector”.
 
Moreover, the secretary wanted to highlight the values of the different factors contributing to the sector’s good health "innovation, adaptability, ambition, modernity, business management, confidence and competitiveness" Similarly, Villòria also pointed out that the Generalitat "through the National Pact for Industry promoted by the Generalitat, we will implement initiatives that foster an improvement in productivity, innovation and internationalization and the quality of jobs in the sector”.
 
For the sixth consecutive year, the Barcelona Fashion Summit has brought together the most important companies in the fashion business and world renowned experts. With the theme "Fashion 2030: a brave new world", speakers from Inditex, Mango, Cortefiel, Bestseller, Jennyfer, Zalando, Alibaba, El Ganso, Delpozo, KPMG, Deloitte, Interbrand, and The Carlyle Group have analyzed the future challenges to be faced in a world of increasing uncertainty.
