The 080 Barcelona Fashion has taken central stage again today at the National Theatre of Catalonia, setting of this 19th edition of the Catalan runway. The fashion brand of international influence Custo Barcelona has brought the fashion shows to a close this afternoon with their maximalist collection “Way more” for spring-summer 2017 and an exclusive teaser of their proposal for next autumn-winter that in a few days they’ll present within New York Fashion Week.
.
In the morning, LOA by Lidia Aguilera has opened the runway with “Quiet Opulence”, based on Oscar Wilde’s novel “The picture of Dorian Gray”, which is also the starting point for Pierre Cardin’s musical production whose première yesterday was the highlight of the 080 Barcelona Fashion opening ceremony.  LOA by Lidia Aguilera brings it to the current times, while keeping the Mediterranean essence of the brand. Thus, the collection presents romantic silhouettes with frills and embroideries mixed with oversize trousers and technological fabrics in a juxtaposition between masculine and feminine that introduces details such as striped shirts and mens shoes.

Afterwards, it’s been the turn for Lola Casademunt, brand that has presented “Winter Fairy Tale” for autumn-winter 2017-18. Based on the fairy tales of its title, it’s a romantic and feminine collection, declined in the colours of red fruits, of flowers and of the ochre leaves of enchanted woods. There is also presence of aristocratic fabrics like velvet, lace, lame and jewels, which add a baroque feel to a look that results very contemporary.
.
Naulover has been next on the catwalk to present “Dark Ophelia”, their collection for autumn-winter 2017-18. Creative director Carme Noguera is inspired now by the mix, of fabrics and materials, of silhouettes, of prints and colours, with a clear inspiration by the dark dandy, which is translated to the beauty looks on the models. Three Spanish topmodels, Laura Sánchez, Marina Pérez and Mayka Merino, have opened the fashion show dresses in a vibrant red and afterwards it’s been the turn for this mix&match looks in one of the most daring collection that Naulover has presented within the 080 Barcelona Fashion.
.
To end the shows in the morning, Txell Miras has introduced “Shed”, her collection of womenswear for autumn-winter 2017-18. Inspired by author Tom Spanbauer and the words on his book “The man who fell in love with the moon”, her proposal recalls the timeless image of the native American Indians and their mystical spirit. Black and grey, which are usual in Miras’ collections, are present but on this occasion the color palette is richer with different hues of brown, some touches of purple and green. The layering and the natural fabrics are other elements that define this collection.

In the afternoon it’s been the turn of Oscarleon, who has opened the runway with “I close my eyes, and I feel you...” to dress the woman next autumn-winter 2017-18. True to the bold style of his brand, Oscarleon presents a daring look in black as the main colour and where the mix of fabrics and experimental textures stand out along with the accessories like the eyewear by The Look and Victoria shoewear. The designer is also present in this edition at 080 Fashion Market, the shopping area open to the general public. There, Oscarleon presents a limited edition of designs that “are unique and exclusive, that have been made for the runway o are a sample to produce. It’s all this part that you generate in experimentation, which now comes to light, and that you can buy at affordable prices” he has explained. “It’s interesting that the public can buy designer pieces that he has seen un the catwalk” he has added.

Coming back to the shows, Josep Abril has been the next one on the runway with his menswear collection “Eyes FW#17/18N40” for next autumn-winter 2017-18. It’s a collection that, according to the designer, has been built pairing up two fabrics absolutely different: matte and shiny, thick and thin, black and purple or blue... Abril has done a research with bizarre silhouettes born from the mix of a shirt with a jumper or a jacket with a pair of trousers or a skirt.  In his words, “we close our eyes, reflect, think, feel... Maybe we should do the same with ourselves, our culture, our hope”. In the staging, the designer has once again presented live music, in collaboration with Xumo Naranjo, regarding the the musical concept, and Martín Meléndez Torres and Sam Sussoh in the performance.

The next to walk on the TNC runway has been another well-known name of the 080 Barcelona Fashion: Miriam Ponsa. The Catalan designer presents “The Balkan route” for autumn-winter 2017-18 and is inspired by this crossroads land, located in southeastern Europe, between the Adriatic and the Black Sea, the Balkans, under the umbrella of a variety of cultures, ethnicities and religions, that has suffered countless demonstrations, conflicts and confrontations. This collection pays homage to all these people, as it’s based on the traditional Balkan clothing which translated on the runway to oversize shapes and round silhouettes. As it’s usual in Ponsa, natural fabrics and handmade production are present here through application of ribbon and braid, as well as an intensive research on the technique of felted mixed wool and silk. For this collection, Miriam Ponsa has worked alongside a social and solidarity-based economy project linked to the Maresmon association, which, through the work of felted wool, contributes to the social integration of women in situation of vulnerability.
