OSCARLEON, ANTONIO MIRO, DANIEL ROSA AND ESCORPION AWARDED AT THE 080 BARCELONA FASHION19TH EDITION

The 19th edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion has come to a close today at the National Theatre of Catalonia with an intense last day in which the award ceremony has stood out. Designer Oscarleon with his collection “I close my eyes, and I feel you...” and brand Antonio Miro, with “Origins”, have been recognized ex aequo with the National Award to the Best Collection 080 Barcelona Fashion. In addition, newcomer Daniel Rosa with his collection “Isolation” has won the National Award to the Emerging Design by Desigual. Meritxell Borràs, Minister of Governance, alongside the director of 080 Barcelona Fashion, Miquel Rodríguez, has chaired the act, where Escorpion has also been awarded the MODACC Prize to the Exporters Brands for their collection “Heritage” for spring-summer 2017.

Within the ceremony, the Minister of Governance, Meritxell Borràs, has wanted to highlight this edition’s location that she has defined as “a perfect setting to show our fashion to the world”. Moreover, Borràs has pointed out “the importance of Catalan fashion, which has given great results throughout history, both economics and creatives”.

When receiving his award, Oscarleon has thanked “this recognition to my work of all these years” and has explained that with his designs he also wants to “represent a woman with attitude”. On the other hand, Antonio Miro’s creative designer, Albert Villagrasa, has thanked the award to the organization and “the trust of the brand” and, regarding his winner collection inspired by the Amish culture and with more presence of woman’s designs that in precedent years, Villagrasa has explained that he wanted to “add a more sophisticated touch” to the brand’s signature style.

As for newcomer Daniel Rosa, winner of the National Award to Emerging Design given by Desigual’s Head of Communication and Marketing, Borja Castresana, he has expressed to be “very happy” and has confessed to have “a greater desire to keep going with the brand” after winning this prize of 15.000 euros and sponsored by Desigual. Moreover, the young designer will be able to present his next collection at the upcoming summer edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion and a sample of his winner collection today will be part of the Textile and Clothing Museum of Catalonia.

Escorpion, on its side, was won the MODACC Award to the Best Collection of Exporters brands. Sybille Horaist and Juanma Granero have said to be “very happy” and have thanked the trust of the brand. This recognition has been awarded by Francesc Maristany, President of the MODACC Cluster.

But the action today at 080 Barcelona Fashion hasn’t only been about the awards. In the morning, the childrenswear brand Little Creative Factory has opened the shows of the day with their debut on the 080 catwalk by the title “The age of dreams” for autumn-winter 2017-18. Inspired by the film “The Danish girl”, the collection is declined in a retro colour palette, which takes you to the 20s of last century, like ecru, ochre, light grey, powder and moss green, and is made of warm and soft fabrics, like velvet, linen, wool, tricot and knit. The generous volumes and oversize silhouettes result in comfortable and versatile designs that form a contemporary look with which boys and girls can play and express their personality. Within the fashion show, Little Creative Factory has introduced their collaboration with shoewear brand Vialis: a shoe especially designed for the LCF girl.

Later on, has been the turn of another much awaited debut on the 080 runway: underwear brand E.S. Collection, which has presented “Shade” for autumn-winter 2017-18. It’s a line for both men and women mainly in dark colours, with some touched of metallic hues, and where the influence of sportswear results in also exterior designs. E.S. Collection works with a great variety of fabrics, like modal and viscose combined with some organic ones, to make soft and well-fitted designs, which appear as a second skin.

On its side, Punto Blanco has been the next on the runway with “Harmony”, a collection for men and women inspired by two lifestyles: the Japanese and the Nordic. The mix of these two results in a pure and clean look, without unnecessary elements, where the game of proportions and the chromatic combinations stand out. It’s a minimalist line defined by the less is more motto.

Finally, Aldomartins has brought the shows of this 19th edition to a close with “Bohemian Rhapsody”, of folklore and rural inspiration. With knitwear as the main fabric, Aldomartins presents luxurious jacquards, made with lycra to get volumes and hand-knitten jumpers for an organic feel and effect of great visual impact. The colour palette presents light tones like pink as well as the nature hues, like moss green and the red of wild berries weighted up by the winter fog.

With Aldomartins show, the 080 Barcelona Fashion says good-bye to this 19th edition setting at the National Theatre of Catalonia until summer. In this winter edition, 24.800 people have visited the 080, between shows’ attendees, media, bloggers and public. Regarding media, 649 professionals have been accredited, of whom 25% were internationals, from countries like United Kingdom, France, Germany, Mexico, Chile and the United States of America and with the presence of important media like WWD, Elle, Vogue.it and L’Officiel.

In regards of the commercial side of the 080 Barcelona Fashion, nearly a hundred buyers have accredited, of whom 20% were foreigners from countries like Belgium, France, Japan, China, Korea, Russia and the USA. Moreover, the 080 Barcelona Fashion Showroom has generated over 250 professional meetings between international buyers and the Catalan fashion companies taking part and has ended with approved orders and commercials agreements, which confirm the success of this initiative. The novelty of this 3rd edition was the important presence of e-commerce operators like Amazon and Alibaba, which shows the “increasing interest of Catalan products for this platforms that present new exports possibilities and the

Finally, and following with the figures of this 19th edition, the 080 Barcelona Fashion social media channels have seen increased their fans base compared with last summer edition: Facebook has now 87.911 followers (2% more), Twitter has 25.400 (2.8% more) and Instagram with 39.200 has gained the major rise with nearly 23% more followers. The event’s web has registered 41.000 visits and in less than two weeks, almost 12.000 people have registered for the Open Area. It’s an example of the success of this initiative born with the aim to bring Catalan fashion closer to the citizens of Barcelona and, also, of this 19th edition that today February 3rd is out of the stage... until next summer edition.
